User Guide: Budget Planning Form
Overview
This Budget Planning Form helps you organize and track your finances by categorizing income, expenses, savings, and debts. The form is designed to be printable, allowing you to maintain a physical copy of your budget.
How to Use the Form
1. Income Section
- Salary/Wages: Enter your primary employment income
- Investment Income: Include dividends, interest, or rental income
- Side Income: Record income from freelance work or side businesses
- Other Income: Add any additional income sources
- Total Income: Sum all income sources (this can be calculated manually)
2. Housing Expenses
- Rent/Mortgage: Your monthly housing payment
- Property Tax: If paid separately from your mortgage
- Home Insurance: Monthly premium for homeowner's/renter's insurance
- Maintenance/Repairs: Estimated monthly costs for home upkeep
- Utilities: Electricity, water, gas, trash collection
- Other Housing: Any additional housing-related expenses
3. Living Expenses
- Groceries: Food and household supplies
- Dining Out: Restaurant meals, coffee shops, etc.
- Transportation: Gas, public transit, ride-sharing, car maintenance
- Healthcare: Insurance premiums, medications, out-of-pocket medical costs
- Entertainment: Movies, hobbies, nights out
- Personal Care: Haircuts, cosmetics, toiletries
4. Debt & Savings
- Credit Card Payments: Monthly minimum payments or planned payments
- Loan Payments: Student loans, car loans, personal loans
- Savings: Regular contributions to emergency fund or other savings
- Investments: Contributions to non-retirement investment accounts
- Retirement: 401(k), IRA, or other retirement account contributions
- Education Fund: College savings or education expenses
5. Additional Expenses
- Childcare/Education: Daycare, tuition, school supplies
- Gifts/Donations: Birthday gifts, charitable contributions
- Travel/Vacation: Budget for trips and getaways
- Subscriptions: Streaming services, magazines, membership fees
- Other Expenses: Any expenses not covered in other categories
6. Budget Summary
- Total Income: Should match your calculated income from the first section
- Total Expenses: Sum of all expenses from housing, living, debt/savings, and additional sections
- Net Amount: Difference between total income and total expenses (positive = surplus, negative = deficit)
7. Notes & Planning
Use this section to:
- Record financial goals
- Note seasonal expenses
- Plan for irregular costs
- Track budget adjustments over time
Printing Your Budget
Click the "Print Budget Form" button to generate a printer-friendly version. The printed version will:
- Remove background colors
- Hide the print button
- Optimize layout for paper
